Light in the Dark, Part 1

Today’s lunchtime tutorial, in none other than the janitor’s closet outside the Mac Lab, was a great success. We had a total of 6 people show up, not including Christopher and me. Considering the fact that this was our first tutorial on light painting, I don’t think we did too bad.

Right before I began writing this post, I realized that I made a big mistake. The light painting images that we created during lunch would have been perfect for this post’s feature image… but I deleted them! At the beginning of class I put back all the equipment we used and took the photos off the 5D Mark II. Sense none of them were any good, I deleted them without thinking. Ugh… I hate when that happens! Anyway, the moral of this short, pitiful story, is don’t delete things until you are absolutely positive that you will have no further use for them.

On a completely different topic, Skocko informed Christopher that people have been asking when we will begin to built this page, and the answer is soon. Our first project will be to make a complete tutorial on the basics of light painting. We will have a combination of both video, text, and screen capture tutorials. So if you’re one of the people wondering when the tutorials are coming, don’t worry, the answer is soon. If all goes as planned, we’ll have a light painting tutorial created by Monday.

Oh, by the way, just read this, learn this, and get it over with! No more Groundhog Day!

You guys did pretty good, excellent public speakers in my opinion. Even though I had already knew most of the basics, I still learned a few things which is good.

Thanks. Now, we should all work together on a large collaborative light painting project. We’d be able to make something pretty cool. The more people the better.

Diana, there’s very few girls in the class to begin with. The fact that one is at all interested is amazing already.

and Chris, I’m pretty sure you nailed everything I knew and more I believe.

Also, was just wondering if you guys have tried making those physiograms/parabolas?

Nope… Want to try it this weekend, but I don’t think it’ll work with my flashlight since it’s too big though.
